This is a great way for paddlers to access remote areas and catch rare glimpses of birds and wildlife. Kayak tours are available in many areas of the country, and each offer something unique. Location: Puerto Viejo.

Description: We will drive to the most beautiful location in the area, Punta Uva. This trip consists of three sections. After a safety briefing we will first embark in a magical sea kayaking journey paralleling a coast full of cliffs, caves, and the most amazing rainforest. Then we will paddle our way up river though gorgeous rainforest where you can expect to spot monkeys, sloth, colorful birds, river turtles, bats and iguanas. Your professional guide will deliver a lot of interesting insights on this wonderful eco system. Back at the beach we will take a nice break to relax, swim and enjoy some nicely presented fresh fruit and snacks before hiking to the great over view at Grape Point.

Description: Bring your camera because this 2 hour paddle on Central America’s second-largest lake gives you the best views of the behemoth Arenal Volcano and Costa Rican wildlife! Enjoy a pleasant time kayaking on Lake Arenal with breath-taking views of the Arenal Volcano and during your trip, you may observe different species of birds like the “Flycatcher,” “Kingfisher,” “Great Blue Heron” and “Anhinga” and may also possibly hear and see Howler monkeys up in the rainforest trees that surround the lake! The view is spectacular with the lake on one side of you, and the majestic Arenal Volcano and amazing lush rainforest on the other. We use high-quality kayaking gear like Ocean Kayak brand single and double kayaks, lifejacket and paddle. We start at one of the the earthen dam that extends across the Southern edge of the lake with paddling instructions and a safety talk so you feel comfortable in your boat. We then go out and explore secluded bays and isolated islands. We’ll stop and have some fresh fruit and juice to get some energy and then get back in the kayak and paddle back around to the starting point. We also recommend you try a Stand Up Paddle while you are at it!

Description: Kayak and snorkel exploring marine wildlife during this exciting 4-hour excursion departing from the pier in Quepos. Paddle your kayak for a little over an hour navigating past tiny islands and observing marine birds and their nesting grounds. Biesanz Bay, a hidden beautiful inlet where you can rest, enjoy a snack and snorkel. The 30-minute stop will allow you to explore the coastline. Water’s visibility will vary depending on the season, and there will be opportunities to spot parrotfish, starfish, angelfish and maybe even a sea turtle. Get ready to paddle back to the pier on your kayak, and during the journey look for pelicans, flying fish or other marine life. Upon returning to the pier, you’ll head back to base camp to enjoy a little conversation over a delicious homemade meal.
