This is a cultural tour where you will really learn a lot! Coffee, chocolate, sugarcane are just some of the most tradicional grows in Costa Rica. See how this is harvested and processed. Witness the whole process, from plant to bean to something you can enjoy. Costa Rica offers a combination of ideal conditions to produce quality beans: higher altitudes, fertile soils of volcanic origin combined with cool climates and steady rainfall, produces beans with fine flavours and aroma. Coffee and Cacao has a strong connection with the Costa Rican hospitality and family traditions. So this is a great opportunity to learn more about the culture and country!

Location: Monteverde.

Description: We offer three tours in one! The coffee tour, which begins with the wonderful history of coffee in the world, followed by its history in our country and importance in Costa Rica’s development. Later on, during the tour we’ll be showing other aspects of Costa Rican culture, as well as some of our traditions. During this part of the tour, we will get to see all the processes carried by coffee, from the seed to the delicious final product, the cup of coffee. The second part of this tour is the famous chocolate tour, the which is a differential feature, and the perfect complement for coffee, it’s a contributor to rescuing the traditions and culture of our country. You will have an experience between aromas and history, where you will participate in the chocolate process and be able to enjoy, share and taste the fruit of the cocoa, until arriving to its magnificent transformation, becoming a delicious drink; equally on this tour we will show you the whole process of transition from seed to pure and ground cocoa. The third part of the tour will be about sugar cane, where you’ll learn about its history, plantations, different types of harvest, processing, obtainment of various products and you’ll be able to live the experience of handcrafting sugar cane juice.

Description: Get yourself immersed in the Pre-Colombian culture of one of Costa Rica’s Indigenous populations. Learn and interact with its people and the region of Talamanca. You will see organic chocolate being made from scratch by a member of the Bri Bri indigenous tribe from plant to plate! The Bri Bri have a long history of chocolate production in the Puerto Viejo area – you will have an opportunity to buy some organic chocolate bars to help support the Bri Bri community.The tour begins with a hike in the rainforest which will lead you to a waterfall. You will observe the tropical flora and have the opportunity to see red frogs and maybe other inhabitants while you relax and enjoy a refreshing swim in the natural pool. Now that you have an energy boost from trying the chocolate, we’ll head off about 30 minutes outside of town to a breathtaking Puerto Viejo waterfall to go for a hike and refreshing swim.
